The latest Judd Apatow rom-com, which, as the title describes, goes on too long but still satisfies thanks to its laughs and sweetness
I wanted to love this movie and there IS a lot to like. This could have been a great film if it lost about 40 minutes. It begins where most romancers end: with the proposal. Jason Segel is a comedic everyman. He's like your next-door-neighbor-least-likely leading man. Emily Blunt is always exceptional, in both looks and talent.
This is a bumpy ride. Not just the romance. The film is uneven. There are many hilarious moments but it just rambles. It begs for better editing. You really don’t have to throw EVERYTHING you think of against the wall.
The supporting cast is just great, every single one . Lauren Weedman is sensational in her very tiny role as the top chef. Give this woman her own movie!!! Chris Pratt of Parks and Recreation fame is also outstanding.
While lacking the smarts of Woody Allen and the outrageous earthiness of Bridesmaids, this one has enough going on to be date night-worthy. And yes- sequel-worthy too.
